The Statue
of Liberty
On
June 27th, 2008, the Statue of Liberty returned to Paris when
the Grand Orient of the United States of America presented the
Grand Orient of France with a framed print of the Lady Liberty
in New York harbor. This was symbolic of the continued spirit
of fraternity that has existed between American and France since
the American Revolution.

Statue of Liberty in New York is much larger. It faces west, towards
its American sister. (Photographed by Adrian Pingstone in June
2002 and released to the public domain.)

French
sculptor, Bro. Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (August
2, 1834 - October 4, 1904), designed the Statue of Liberty in
New York Harbor. Intended to celebrate the centenary of the American
Revolution, it was not completed until 1886. Bartholdi was Initiated
in 1874 into Lodge Alsace-Lorraine, Paris.
